Time to see where Life is going...and how to manage it all!

Updated: Aug 13, 2020

Notice I didn't say my life but life in general, it keeps going whether we feel ready or not

So how do we manage our time?

It's true that you are your own worst enemy when you self sabotage your goals. For me, I had to do some deep self reflection because I would blame it on my laziness. However, it was more than that, it was more of not loving myself. The act of respecting your time, money, health all comes down to if you love and respect your own life.

For a while, I thought I did until I realized I would make excuses why I couldn't make my goals and blame the environment when it was really me using it as an excuse to not face myself.

  • Got to love and respect yourself before you can really move forward with your goals and look at things that bother you or still remain unresolved.

  • Praise yourself even for little things

  • Self care and meditation

  • More time to get to know yourself by asking yourself questions about yourself.

  • And More...please add on comments below on what you do to feel good about yourself

So one thing I realized as well is that TIME is your LIFE. That saying "Time is Money" is true if you want to put monetary value to it but it's more precious than money so why are we wasting it. This somehow changed my perspective...but how much time am I wasting?

This was an opportunity for me to measure my time daily because the word I like to use is that I am too "Busy" or that "I don't have enough time" to read a book or hang out with so and so. How many of us have used that as an excuse?

If I want to be able to do everything I want, I can not limit by life to time that I do and don't have. Having the mindset that I can do it all even if "I don't have enough time" is an important motivation. You're Alive right? then you have time. (but don't take away your sleep time)

So where do I start?

Track your time

  1. Use your Calendar book and a grid line notebook ( which you can get on amazon)

  2. Highlighters and colored pens (Muji color pens are good).

3. Use a Grid sheet to put date and days of the week.

  • Top row is the time from 12:00 midnight of Day 1 to 12:00 midnight the next day

  • There are two Columns which is the number of days of the month and next to it in abbv is the the days of the week. For example: (S = Sun, M = Mon, T=Tues, W= Wed, Th = Thurs, F=Fri, Sa=Sat) - you can also use an excel sheet.

  • I use the highlighter to identify the color categories

  • Purple - Work/sleep (times that are set)

  • Orange - Social Media (internet, times I waste on it)

  • Yellow - Errands

  • Green - working out/gym

  • Pink - Activities for my spiritual practice

  • Blue - Spending time with my Family, friends and BF

As you can see, I like to go online and waste time but it does tell me I have more time to do things I keep saying I'm too busy for like reading a book or going to the gym.

Track your habits

Similar to the above Time tracking, the difference is the category on top is "ABC". I usually list it from my morning routine to the evening routine. My tip is to keep it short so that.

If you have book with grid lines, have the time tracker on the next page of the habit tracker and you can see within that month where time went that you missed some habits that day.

This is commonly used in most Japanese and Asian countries so you might be able to find some online already done.

Otherwise you can use excel or google sheet if you want to go digital.

Bonus tip! In that same book, list your goals for the month in the extra space.
